Background Information

I was born on February 23rd, 1973, married and have a son. I am currently PhD research student at UNISA and have MSc in Information Science from Addis Ababa University.

Apart from more than 10 years of service as lecturer, I have project experience in development and management of university registrar system for two years and led library automation project of Hawassa University. I have also engaged in reverse engineering project for Addis Ababa University finance system for six months while I was postgraduate student at School of Informatics of the university.  I have participated in two major university-level task-forces for teaching-learning process improvement. I also participated and initiated (some of) the following small to mid-range collaborative projects supported by  Google, EU, UK and Norwegian Government funded university-based projects in the ICT sector: ICT incubation services, enhancing entrepreneurship,   e-learning, and Computer Science education.

Research and Collaboration Interest

My research interest include: ICT for development, language technologies for resource-poor Ethiopian languages, and ICT for education with a focus for higher education. I am keen for collaborative projects in areas that empower youth for innovation, self-employment and “culture-sensitive” technological development
